Lincoln County Foods Group meeting - Tuesday, May 8th at the OSU Lincoln Co. Extension Office Conf. Room, 12-2pm. Bring a lunch.

1-1-1 Cooking Class March 24th

Kale, one of the most readily available vegetables on the Oregon Coast, is
sometimes met with groans of not again! If this is you, you might enjoy
attending Food Share's first 1-1-1 Cooking Class focusing on Kale to gain
some new tips and cooking techniques. It's one hour cooking class taught
by Chef Pati D’Eliseo of A Posto Personal Chef Services, LLC that focuses
exclusive on one vegetable. Participants will watch, cook, eat and take
home veggies.

The class is Saturday, March 24th from 11am-12pm at the South Beach
Community Center, 3024 SE Ferry Slip Road (across from Pirate’s Plunder).
The class is free, but you need to pre-register to attend (class is

Countdown to the 2012 Chefs' Show-Off!

Sunday, April 1st, 2 to 5 p.m. at Linn-Benton Community College's main
campus, in Albany, in the Dining Commons of the Calapooia Center.

Tickets: Now available for just $8* at First Alternative Co-ops, Corvallis
Brewing Supply, Mennonite Village (during office hrs.), Oregon Coast
Community College's South Beach campus (in the Small Business Development
Center, room 007) and online at www.tenriversfoodweb.org. Click on the
2012 CSO Update. Buy early and save - tickets $10 at the door.

While the chefs create an entree from all local ingredients, enjoy food
samples and purchase products at the adjoining Food Fair featuring farms
and food businesses including Walker Farms of Siletz. LOTS of new foods to
sample and businesses to learn about at the Food Fair! Passports available
to sample wine from Lumos (and wine cupcakes!), beer from Twisted Snout,
or hard ciders from 2 Towns Ciderhouse.

There will also be a Bake-Off. Taste and vote on entries from Katie McNeil
of Pacific Sourdough, Ana Patty of Gathering Together Farm and Kris
Krabill of Kris' Kitchen.

Featured chefs are Michelle Bursey (ONA's Restaurant & Lounge, Yachats),
Kimber Hoang (Magenta, Corvallis), Regina Iovino (Iovino's at Enoteca,
Corvallis) and Karen Novak (Novak's Hungarian Restaurant, Albany).

FREE workshop titled "Food Demonstrations in the Marketplace" brought to you by OSU Extension Service Linn County and taught by Extension Faculty, Janice Gregg.

The workshop will take place next Tuesday March 20th from 10am-2pm (includes lunch) at the Linn County Extension Service Office (104 4th Ave. SW, Albany) in the Evelyn Downing Room.

Participants will learn how to conduct successful food demonstrations at a market and in public venues. Topics that will be covered:

Supplies needed
Food safety considerations
Handling food
Recipe selection
Signage
How to meet and greet
