Coastal Farm to Fork: A Harvest Meal at Forks Farm

Enjoy local food at its best – on a beautiful farm in the Yachats River
Valley.

Join Ten Rivers Food Web and the Lincoln County Foods Group for a farm to
fork dinner on Sunday, September 16th at 3pm. We will be hosted by Forks
Farm, located at 8 North Yachats River Road in Yachats.

The dinner will feature a delicious array of seasonal foods from the Ten
Rivers foodshed’s best farms, fisheries, bakeries and more.

Forks Farm is a 26-acre farm in the Yachats River Valley, where the North
and South forks meet, owned and operated by Catherine Lucido and Rick
Taves. They grow blueberries, cut flowers, winter squash, and pumpkins and

Small Farm School is an all day event for beginning farmers and small
acreage landowners.

Field and classroom workshops will address small farm topics such as crop
and livestock production, direct marketing, small-scale equipment, and
soil and water conservation. Experienced farmers, Extension agents,
Conservationists, and other agricultural professionals will teach the
workshops.

Tuna are sold from the boat at Port Dock 7 in Newport, Oregon. The commerical dock is on the north side of the harbor, just east of the restaurants and shops.

The fishing docks are open to the public and parking is free.

This weekend we are offering killer deals on Lamb Leg Steaks and Chicken Backs. Stop by the Newport Farmers Market on Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm or the Lincoln City (Oregon) Farmer's and Crafter's Market on Sunday from 9 am to 3 pm to stock up! Lamb Leg Steaks are a slice cut off of a Leg of Lamb and normally sell for $10.95 per lb - this weekend only they will be on sale for $7.50 per lb! Chicken backs are a great way to get what you need for a fantastic soup stock - normally $2.65 per lb, this weekend only you can pick them up for $1.50 per lb! Good News for Bee Keepers

Here's some potentially good news. Hobby beekeepers' reluctance to use chemicals on their hives could be cultivating strains of bees that are resistant to mites and diseases, says an apiarist with the OSU Extension Service. That, in turn, might stave off honey bee deaths.
