Three to 4 people are needed for each shift to make the special hand-squeezed lemonade through the opening hours of the Festival, 10 to 7 on Saturday and 10 to 4 on Sunday. Set-up and tear-down will be covered by others. If it is possible for you to volunteer for part of a shift at the Newport Market on either May 31 or June 7 you can become familiar with the techniques for making the product. The contact person for the Newport Market is Bonnie Good. She is best reached by telephone at 541-574-2254. Please give her a call to attend “training.” It is not necessary that you stay the entire morning at the Market, but if you can help during your training session that is appreciated. We are required to have at least one person with a current Food Handler Card in the booth at all times. If you have a Card, please indicate that information below. If you do not have a current Card and are willing to take the on-line training to obtain a Card, here is the link. http://www.lincolncountyhealth.com/EH/food_handler.htm Please reply by email to respond to indicate your availability. Simply delete the information that does not apply to you.

The Lemonade Project was launched by the Newport Market 3 years ago to raise funds to provide a subsidy for people using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to purchase natural foods at the Market. For the Celtic Festival, the Toledo Thursday Market will be the primary beneficiary of the proceeds to funds its SNAP matching benefit program. The product, fresh squeezed lemonade, is a high quality natural beverage that is made to a specific formula. The Lemonade Project enjoys a favorable reputation among residents and visitors alike and attracts repeat customers and donors at the Newport Market.

The Newport Celtic Festival and Highland Games is also seeking volunteers to perform a variety of tasks to make the Festival and enjoyable event for participants and visitors alike. The Festival has grown into the largest event at the Fairgrounds and draws visitors from several states and countries. If you have an interest in working at the Festival, please use the link below. The link provides a complete overview of the Festival schedule and the various jobs for volunteers. There will be a volunteer orientation on Sunday, June 8 from 2:00 until 3:00. I encourage each of you to consider working with the other volunteers to support the Festival and other Celtic heritage events throughout the year.

Thank you again for your interest in supporting this worthwhile project and helping to welcome visitors to Lincoln County.
