Looking for volunteers to help at The Lemonade Project booth

With the start of the Newport Farmers' Market season, comes the start of
The Lemonade Project. We're looking for volunteers to help at The Lemonade
Project booth on Saturdays during the farmers market to squeeze and sell
lemonade. It's a really fun time getting to know the farmers market
customers. Come and volunteer one Saturday!

If you are interested please contact Chloe Rico, 541-867-8672 or
chloe@tenriversfoodweb.org.

The Lemonade Project is a social enterprise sponsored by the Newport
Farmers Market and Ten Rivers Food Web and run by community volunteers.
Volunteers make and sell fresh squeezed lemonade at a booth at the Newport
Farmers Market.

The proceeds from the lemonade sales will fund the That’s My Farmer SNAP
Incentive Program, benefiting shoppers at the Market who participate in
S.N.A.P. (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly called Food
Stamps). The That's My Farmer SNAP Incentive Program provides S.N.A.P.
shoppers with matching (additional) funds, six dollars each week, when
they use their benefits card at the Market, and spend at least six
dollars, to purchase fresh food.

This program encourages low-income shoppers to come to the Farmers Market
and helps to stretch their food dollars while adding healthy
fruits, vegetables and local foods to their diet.
