Growing Farms Workshop Series
The Growing Farms workshop series will be held every Wednesday from March
7 - April 11 from 5 to 9 pm. A full day farm field tour will be on
Saturday, March 31. The course will be held at the Scandinavian Festival
Hall in Junction City.

LCFG Foodies Film Series
Join us on Sundays in January and February for the “Foodies” Film Series
featuring films focused on food, farming, fisheries, nutrition and
environmental issues. The event is co-hosted by Ten Rivers Food Web and
Food Share of Lincoln County along with Oregon Coastal Zone Management
Association (on Feb. 12th).

A film that unearths the roots of the local food movement and digs into
the stories of the chefs, farmers and activists transforming our broken
food system. Features Oregon farmers.
January 29th, 1:30pm: Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead

An unconventional and uplifting story of two men from different worlds on
personal missions to regain their health.
February 5th, 1:30pm: Vanishing of the Bees (http://www.vanishingbees.com/)
This documentary examines the alarming disappearance of honeybees and the
greater meaning it holds about the relationship between humans and the
Earth.
February 12th, 1:30pm: Oregon Ocean Fisheries: A Conservation Story
Newport premiere! (http://www.oczma.org/)
A truly local look at our coastal fisheries, this film was produced by the
Oregon Coastal Zone Management Association (OCZMA) and probably features
people you know! Hear from the producer, Onno Husing, and other local
residents working to protect our ocean environment in a Q & A after the
film.
Attendance is free, with a suggested donation of $2 and one non-perishable
food item for Food Share of Lincoln County. Seating is limited to the
first 50 people, so come early! Snacks will be provided.

Conservation Stewardship Program Sign Up Still Open
The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC) reports that the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has extended the ranking-period cutoff date for the 2012 Conservation Stewardship Program. Interested farmers and ranchers now have until January 27 to complete the initial application form to compete for a spot in the 2012 enrollment class for the program.
