The Lincoln County Extension Office is sponsoring this gathering with the goal of pulling like-minded people together to form a community group focused on food and agriculture in Lincoln County.

We will be joined by Sharon Thornberry, Community Resource Developer for Oregon Food Bank and recipient of the 2009 Billi Odegaard Public Health Genius Award for her work on strengthening food systems throughout Oregon and by Jeff Feldner, Oregon Sea Grant Extension Fisheries and Seafood Specialist who will speak on ways to integrate our seafood industry into the local foods movement.

We hope this group will set strategies and goals for strengthening our local food system. What would you like to see accomplished by a group focused on supporting Lincoln County community food efforts? How would you increase awareness and access to local foods and agriculture? This is your opportunity to share your ideas and take action to make them happen.

Farm To Table: Maximizing Our Use of Local Foods In Lincoln County at Newport Library Conf. Rm. on Sept. 23

Mark you calendars to attend and participate in lectures and discussion on landscaping with vegetables and herbs, marketing local seafoods, an update on Lincoln Co. Local Foods, info on a food security assessment survey in Lincoln Co., and best vegetables to grow on the Oregon coast. Lectures will be at the Newport Library on September 23, 2010 from 9am to 12pm in conjunction with OSU's Savory Images agricultural product images exhibit touring the state and currently at the Newport Library Conference Room.
